Wednesday, January 13th: We had a very busy day today! This morning we started off our day with a fun story "There Was A Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow" and then we did some DPA with Mrs. Carter-Rae! After DPA and snack we got into a "mathematical mode". Miss Jackson worked with a group of students working on number recognition, counting and matching; while Mrs. H. worked with a group of students working on composing and decomposing numbers. How many ways can you make 5? Here are some great shots of our mathematical adventures. After our mathematical discussions my friends worked on writing their numbers. Printing, identifying, composing and decomposing numbers were not our only mathematical activities today! This afternoon some of my friends were using Q-tips and jewels on the mirrors to make different shapes and patterns! Other friends wanted to keep working on writing their numbers. Some of them did it using salt and others were using the dry erase markers! Fun! Other friends were working on their fine motor skills. Some were using water and others were using tweezers and the jewels! The left to right transfer is good to help them learn to read! Our "ice castle" was a very popular spot this morning! We had Anna, Elsa and Olaf - then Olaf decided we needed a knight to guard the palace! Here are some cute shots. Some of my friends were having fun using the iPads to reinforce some math concepts and other friends were exploring shapes using the bristle blocks! As always, they explored shape using the big blocks too - the boys built their own rooms with beds that face giant flat screen tvs! Awesome imagination! Wednesdays are our favorite day because we end with reading buddies! Our grade 6 buddies read us stories in French and English! We love hanging out with them. Here are some great photos - I love the sense of community that is created when we get together! My "kindy" friends love getting together with their older buddies! Have a wonderful evening! :)
