Today is a very special day on our calendar - it is Ash Wednesday. This morning, the children watched a video about Jesus' time in the desert and then we read the book "How Does God Listen"? I have included the video in the post so that you can "rewatch" it with your child.
We talked about Jesus spending time alone in the desert during Lent so that He could pray to God and respond to God's call. We then discussed how we too can talk to God and that we can "listen" for His response. We are striving to be closer to Jesus during Lent and we are working hard at "Filling Buckets".
This afternoon, we attended Mass and the children received ashes on their foreheads. "Repent and Believe" - Amen.
A special thank you to Mrs. Pelltier for sending in the play dough! Thanks for filling our buckets - the children love to play with it!
This morning we changed the cloth on our prayer table from green to purple. As we were changing the cloth we talked about the ashes that are used on Ash Wednesday come from burning the palms from Palm Sunday the previous year.
We use purple cloths on our prayer table during Lent because purple is associated with mourning and anticipates the pain and suffering of the crucifixion.
