Happy Monday! I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to our generous Parent Council. With the funds that they give to Miss Jackson and I we bought some supplies for our classroom. One of the new additions is this wonderful netting over our safe place. We also bought a new tree for our listening centre (the old one kept falling down), some greenery for the classroom and a container for the reading area. Thanks so much again!
Monday, January 18th: Happy Monday! This morning we read the books "Les ours polaires" and "Polar Bears Closeup" as part of our winter inquiry. We are going to transform our sensory bin into an arctic animal habitat! We can't wait to get started. Many of my friends had such a great time last week with the magnet activity that we put another one out today. My scientists were trying to discover the difference between the magnets - was one stronger than another? Which one could pick up the most things? During their exploration one friend discovered that if he held the magnet under the table then the ball on the table would move as he moved the magnet! Scientists are all about experimenting and exploring - way to go!! We had more than one magnetic activity today. Mrs. H. bought us some new blocks and a train - they are both magnetic. The blocks are great as they are to build geometric shapes! I had many friends building triangles, rectangles and squares! One friend even made a grid! Awesome math! The train was very popular today! My friends had a great time putting the track together and then driving the trains! Some of my friends were working on their math skills. They were using the ten frames to count and represent numbers! They had fun because they were using play dough rolled into little balls (good for their fine motor) as markers! As always, our ice castle was a popular spot. My friends love dressing up and taking on various roles! We had library today with Mrs. Szeideman. She came to our classroom because Kindergarten registration is taking place in the Learning Commons this week! She read us the book - "Tom's Tweet". No, he was not posting on Twitter :). Finally some of my friends were enjoying quiet activities alone - one was building a structure and the other was relaxing with the cars! It is nice sometimes to just relax and play alone! Have a wonderful evening! :)
