Happy Monday! As a Lenten project the St. Anne school community is supporting the "OK Clean Water Project". Many people in Kumbo need to walk as many 11km to get clean water. "OK Clean Water" is a cause that is close to our hearts. Father Francis, a priest at St. Patrick's is from Kumbo and shared the positive impact the St. Anne's community has made with previous donations.
Our school community is asking for donations on February 25th and April 1st. The kindergarten children are participating in the "Walking Wednesdays" (weather permitting) by walking around the play structure 11 times to give them an idea how far people in Kumbo need to travel to get clean water. Our efforts are genuinely "Filling Buckets" with clean water.
This morning we read the book "The House That Max Built". We decided this was a great way to kick off our new unit as they are building so many new homes right beside our school. We have watched the construction coming along since the beginning of the school year. Many of the houses are now ready for their families.
In the spirit of adventure we decided to change our dramatic play area into a "Fire Station". We know that firemen are members of our community that help keep us safe.
