Monday, December 8th: * The Adventures of Tinsel * It would seem that our Tinsel got into some mischief upon her return from the North Pole. Apparently she thought it was a good idea to try and play with the Gingerbread Man. Here is the result: We have had a very busy day! Thank you to Ms. Martineau and Mrs. Van D for sending in the wrapping paper and old Christmas cards! We will put them to good use at our wrapping station. This morning after gym some of our friends were doing puzzles ~ they love the new ones - ponies! After quiet time we visited the library. Mrs. Szeideman read us the book "The Last Christmas Tree!" We loved it! Here we are listening to the story: When we got back from the library we had some DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time. We enjoyed sharing our books with each other. We had a lot of budding artists this afternoon. Some were inspired by Tinsel's antics with the Gingerbread Man and were making "Gingerbread" pictures while others were making angels!! As always, "Santa's Workshop" is a busy place! Some of our little elves were getting into mischief!! Here is our updated "Roots of Empathy" board. The children loved the visit from baby Arya last Friday. She is now 4 months old! Have a wonderful evening! :)

Friday, December 5th: * The Adventures of Tinsel * Tinsel has been very busy over the last couple of days. Yesterday she was hiding in one of our stockings and today she was sitting in a new dump truck full of snow with a sign that said "Let It Snow"! The Gingerbread man was also in on the antics ... I wonder if he will be better behaved this year? We had our second visit with baby Arya today! We are loving the Roots of Empathy program and today we talked about reasons why babies cry. Our visits with Arya are also helping us to understand our science inquiry on the 5 senses. We watched how Arya used her senses today! Here are some great shots of our time with baby Arya. Baby Arya was not the only excitement in our class today. We are still loving our "Santa's Workshop"! The elves were very excited today as we got more good smelling playdough from Mrs. D and Ms. H. Thanks it makes our centre that much more fun. Here are some cute photos of our elves getting into mischief!! Have a wonderful weekend :)
Wednesday, December 3rd: * ART-O-RAMA UPDATE * As you know, we are planning an Art-O-Rama afternoon on Friday, December 12th. In order for the event to run, we need a minimum of five volunteers, we currently have two. If you are interested in attending, please complete the form and return it in your child's mailbag by Friday, December 5th. * The Adventures of Tinsel * On Tuesday, Tinsel was on our Religion table in a red bucket. She is our bucket filler. Today, we found her hanging from our cupboards. We were all very quick to remind our teachers not to touch her. She had a special note for us about snow! We opened our "Santa's Workshop" today. Thank you so much Mrs. Van D for sending in the play dough. The children loved baking cookies! We had many busy elves in our workshop ~ here are some cute photos! Monday, December 1st: * The Adventures of Tinsel * Our favorite elf is BACK from the North Pole. Tinsel showed up in our classroom this morning - she left us a lovely note written in Smarties (we got to eat two at snack) and a fun note. Here are some photos of her antics! Tinsel was not the only excitement in our classroom today. We are changing our dramatic play area into "Santa's Workshop" and we made a sleigh! We have a horse that has volunteered to "dress up" as a reindeer to guide our sleigh! We were all in a festive mood today ~ we even listened to Christmas music at quiet time. The festivities moved into math - we are starting another pattern using Santa, an angel and the baby Jesus. Some friends were practicing patterns today using blocks and Christmas pictures. Some of our friends were engaged with activities on the Smartboard ~ finding our way out of a maze using shapes and others were "stamping" and writing words at the writing centre!! Other friends were getting into the festive spirit at the art table. We got some new Christmas stencils and they were making great pictures ~ here are some samples!! Have a wonderful evening! Please don't forget we would welcome any old Christmas cards or wrapping paper. We could also use some play dough - the recipe is listed on Sunday's post. :)
