We have had a very busy week! Over the last couple of days we have been talking about "Homeless Jesus". Wednesday, May 4th: We have had a very busy week! Over the last couple of days we have been talking about "Homeless Jesus". The "Homeless Jesus" is a bronze sculpture that was created by Canadian artist, Timothy Schmaltz. The statue depicts Jesus as a homeless person sleeping on a park bench. It is meant to remind us of Jesus' most important lesson - that we need to take of the less fortunate and each other. The children have had many rich discussions about the sculpture. We have talked about ways we can fill Jesus' bucket - by being kind and inclusive to each other. We also discussed how our "school community" helps our larger community with food drives and other fundraising projects. After we discussed the sculpture and what it means we read the book "Does God Know How to Tie Shoes"? Some of my friends finished their "special project" early today and working on reading and writing their sight words! As many of you may have noticed during the open house ~ we have baby chicks at our school. Today we went to visit them - some of my friends got a chance to hold one. Here are some cute photos! They all washed their hands really well after holding them!!! Have a wonderful evening! :)
