Wednesday, March 4th: The children are enjoying our Dr. Seuss week. Don't forget tomorrow is crazy hat or stripes day! This morning we continued our mini "Dr. Seuss inquiry" by reading "The Foot Book". In honor of "The Foot Book" we did a fun math/art activity this morning. We measured our feet using standard and nonstandard units and then we made a footprint. Many of our friends were very ticklish and had a hard time sitting still while we put the paint on their feet. Here are some fun photos. Some of our other friends were working on their math skills using dot to dots and others were using mazes! As always our fire station was busy! This time our lady firefighters had everything under control! Did you know that Dr. Seuss' real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel? He was so creative with words and rhymes but he also got creative with his name. He published some of his books under the name Theo Lesieg which is Geisel spelled backwards! We decided to try and write our names backwards in honor of Dr. Seuss. Finally, one of our friends shared her favorite Dr. Seuss book "Hop On Pop"! The best part - she read it to us! Great reading! Have a wonderful evening! :)
