We had a very busy morning! We started our day reading the book "Voici l'hiver". We are continuing our "winter inquiry" and learned some new French vocabulary. We learned that a snowflake is "un flocon de neige". We enjoyed talking about all of our favorite winter activities. We discovered (after reading our story) that we forgot to mention one of our favorite things - catching snowflakes on our tongues!!
"Wednesday, January 6th: We had a very busy morning! After our story we had DPA with Mrs. Carter-Rae. Once we finished, some of my friends were quick to continue building our "ice castle". Here are some great shots of them painting and making snowflakes to hang in our castle! Very creative - we love using the glitter!! Some friends had a great time doing a new floor puzzle! One of our friends brought in her old puzzles for us to enjoy! They had a great time putting together the castle and the unicorn!! Thank you so much for giving them to us!! Our new reading area continues to be a popular space! The children love it and use it to enjoy reading with friends or as a quiet place to enjoy reading alone! Here are some cute pictures of them "hanging out"! There was a lot of writing and math happening in our class today! Some of my friends were using the wooden letters to make their names and then print them! Awesome!! Our letter and sound recognition is really coming along!! Writing was not the only popular activity today! Some of my friends were playing a game using snowballs (styrofoam balls) to create number bonds! How many ways can you make 5? 3+2, 4+1, 5+0 -here they are playing and making math connections!! Awesome work!! Once they figured out the combinations they wrote the number sentences! Wow! The wooden doll house continues to be a popular spot! It really sparks their imagination - we love it ever since Tinsel (our crazy elf) found the patio furniture!! Finally, some of my friends were in a scientific mood! They were examining the contents of the basket with the magnifying glasses and counting their treasures! Awesome teamwork and observations! Have a wonderful evening! :)
