Friday, September 12th: Happy Friday everyone! The children had a very busy day today. This morning we read the book "The Day The Crayons Quit" to kick off our first inquiry on colour. The children loved the story and we began identifying our colours in English and in French. Today, we talked about the primary colours: red (rouge), yellow (jaune) and blue (bleu). We experimented with colour today by painting some canvasses. We are going to decorate them and hang them in the classroom. Our canvasses today were red, yellow and blue but next week we will be mixing colours using paint to create secondary colours. Painting and art were not the only activities this morning. We got into some math. The children were doing a counting activity and enjoyed using the ants to count. Here are some great pictures! This afternoon we decided to work on some fine motor skills. The children had fun playing with play dough and transferring coloured water from left to right with a turkey baster. The transferring work not only helps their fine motor skills but it also helps them when learning to read to go from left to right! There is nothing better than being allowed to play with water! This one of their favorite activities ~ it never gets old! Here are some great pictures the concentration is amazing! At the art table we were experimenting using stamps! We dipped them in the inkpad and made some fabulous pictures! Finally, building is always fun! Today we were using the marble run andLego for our creations! Have a wonderful weekend!
