We had a very exciting day today! We started our day doing some math. My friends had a great time working with our "rekenrek". We were working on our number sense. I asked my friends to make five in different ways! We started off doing two rows (using two numbers), then we moved to using three rows (three numbers) and then got fun using four rows (four numbers). My friends made great connections and discovered the power of zero! When using four rows they told me 4+1+0+0=5. Awesome mathematicians!
Friday, June 2nd: We had a very exciting day today! We had to interrupt our number talk because it finally happened! We got butterflies. My friends were very excited because when we entered the classroom this morning we still had 9 chrysalises and then ... it happened! We actually got to watch the whole process - we saw the butterfly emerge from the chrysalis! By the end of the day, we had 3 butterflies! Needless to say the rest of our morning centered on butterflies. Some of my friends were drawing their observations at the counter and others were creating a chrysalis and a butterfly using the locktagons! A few of the ladies in our class were enjoying the flower shop! They always have such a good time! As you know, we have also been learning about space. Some of my friends were helping Mrs. Meredith with a special project. We are building "Olympus Mons". It is the largest volcano in our solar system and is found on the planet Mars! Have a wonderful weekend! :)
