Monday, December 18th: * The Adventures of Tinsel * Tinsel was sitting listening to Christmas music today! Her new sweat shirt said "Jingle Bells Rock"! I am so sorry - I don't have any pictures from our day today. Mrs. K. and I were working on finishing up the secret project and then this afternoon we were in the gym from 1:30 until 3:00 rehearsing for the Christmas Concert on Wednesday!
Have a wonderful evening! :) Thursday, December 14th:
* The Adventures of Tinsel * Even though I don't usually post on Thursdays, I had to take a moment and post what our crazy elf did today! She was zip lining from the Smart board to the black board! The children loved it! Wednesday, December 13th: * The Adventures of Tinsel * Tinsel had fun making it tough to find her this morning! She was hiding in our garland under the Smartboard. She also rearraged our magnetic snowman! I'm not sure if she was trying to wear his hat or not! My friends have been very interested in the nativity story. They have been reenacting the birth of baby Jesus. This morning we read "God Gave Us Christmas". Here are some awesome photos! My friends were having fun doing various Christmas activities. Some of my friends were practicing their number identification play roll and cover on Christmas trees. To make that game a little more challenging for my SK friends, they had to roll and add one more! Other friends were having fun to a French Christmas write the room (they had to find the Christmas vocabulary and then record it on their sheet) they love using the clipboards! While they were hunting for words other friends were having fun decorating Christmas trees and hanging lights on the Smartboard! My friends were playing with Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head on the carpet and one of them got inventive! This afternoon we had our favorite activity! Our reading buddies came and helped us with a project! We have no photos of the project because it is a surprise but we have some great photos with our buddies! Have a great evening! :)
Monday, December 11th: * Update * We got an email at the end of the day letting us know that the children's photos have arrived. If you ordered pictures they will be sent home tomorrow in their mailbags. * The Adventures of Tinsel * Today our crazy elf was in our sensory bin! She was tobogganing! Awesome! That Tinsel :) We had a very busy day today! We read the book "Mon Beau Sapin". Then we got into some fun French word activities! My friends enjoyed using the magnetic letters to make their French Christmas vocabulary! Fun! After our story, some of my friends decided they wanted to make Christmas trees at the art table. They were experimenting using different shapes to draw their trees! Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head were very popular this morning! So was the train - I wonder if it was a Christmas train? The afternoon was very busy! After quiet time, my friends had gym and then library! Before we knew it we were getting ready to go home! Have a wonderful evening! :)
Friday, December 8th: * The Adventures of Tinsel * My friends were so happy! Tinsel was back today! As you know, one of my friends touched her the other day so she had to return to the North Pole. She made a snow angel today and reminded us to act like angels! * Thank You * Mrs. K and I would like to thank Mrs. Huntington, Mrs. Dinardo, Mrs. Zucco, Ms. Burgess-Last, Mrs. Armstrong and Mrs. Devlin for making Art-O-Rama a huge success!! The children loved it! We had a busy day today! My friends were so excited this morning as they knew we were having Art-O-Rama this afternoon. To pass the time they were exploring some fun Christmas activities! They were enjoying the reindeer roll and cover math game (we are big on reindeer because of the Christmas Concert) and then had fun playing the gingerbread race game! Mrs. K finished the display of family photos today! They look wonderful! Remember our "Elfie-Selfie" pictures - Mrs. K made a cute display in the hall! Other friends were having a great time doing a gingerbread math activity. They had to cut out the gingerbread men and arrange them in numerical order! Art-O-Rama Thank you again to all of our wonderful volunteers! We couldn't have done it without you! The children had a blast! Have a wonderful weekend! :)
Wednesday, December 6th: * The Adventures of Tinsel * Tinsel must have overheard Mrs. K. and Mrs. H. planning our gingerbread activities. This morning she showed up with a gingerbread girl and took some of our gingerbread markers and used them as cookies! Very creative! We started our day with the story "Georgie the Gingerbread Fairy". The children loved it! All of our activities centered around gingerbread - we had a "gingerbread count" activity (like I Spy), "gingerbread clip cards" we got to use gingerbread clips to mark the numbers, a "gingerbread race game" we had to roll the dice and get our gingerbread man to the gingerbread house, and we built with the candy construction set! These friends were having fun doing the gingerbread clip activity! It was also a good work out for their fine motor skills! Other friends were enjoying creating with the candy construction set! They were making sweet treats - one even made a car! The gingerbread race game was a hit! They loved rolling the dice and racing to the gingerbread house! My friends had a great time with the gingerbread count game! They had to spot the object in the picture and then count how many times it appeared. Once they counted they had to write the number beside the object! They love "I spy" games! To help them remember how to write numbers they had gingerbread numbers on the table too! :) Other friends were having fun creating and decorating gingerbread houses on the Smartboard! We had a great morning and then, our day kind of went downhill. For some reason, my friends were very excited today (maybe because they are working on a special project with their teachers)! One of our friends broke the golden rule and touched Tinsel - after we came back from the gym she was gone! She returned to the North Pole and Santa is taking good care of her! My friends needed a lot of reminders to not be silly so many, that their teachers were getting frustrated! I know tomorrow is going to be a great day!
We got to end our day with our favorite activity! Our grade 6 buddies (sorry no pics of that today - it was crazy!) We got to work with and do some coding! We had to program an elf around Santa's village - the elf has to pick up lots of things (like presents) to get points! If you would like to give it a try - the game is available on the Google Santa tracker site! Very fun! Have a wonderful evening! :) Monday, December 4th: * Important Note * Please check your child's mailbag for an important permission form regarding our Christmas Concert. Please complete the form and return to school as soon as possible! Thank you! I am going to apologize in advance as the blog posts are going to be a little shorter over the next couple of weeks. Mrs. K and I are busy working on a special project with the children and taking pictures is going to be difficult! Thanks for your understanding! * The Adventures of Tinsel * Our beloved elf Tinsel was back this morning! It appears she had some friends over and all of the chairs in our classroom were overturned! She promised to have her friends behave better the next time they visit! Speaking of elves - we have a big thank you for one of our friend's Elf on the Shelf, Anna! Anna made our class a batch of gingerbread play dough for our classroom! It smelled wonderful and the children had a great time playing with it! Thank you Anna!! My friends were doing some favorite activities! The art table was popular today - my friends were using the Christmas stencils to make pictures, cards and of course letters to mom and dad! Other friends were having fun reading Christmas books. Some of them were stories and others were "I Spy Christmas" where they had to find the hidden objects! Some friends were having fun building with the "squidzs"! One friend made a necklace and another friend made a flashlight - the kind you wear on your head! Awesome! Other friends got creative with the Magformers! One used the guide and built a heart - and the girls were having fun arranging them on the chalk board! Have a wonderful evening! :)
